TOKYO — A global internet outage shut down the websites of media companies, from Nikkei to The New York Times, Amazon and the British government on Tuesday.
Reuters attributed the system failure to a glitch at U.S.-based cloud computing services provider Fastly. The outage was resolved after about an hour at 8:00 p.m. Tokyo time.
Sites including Nikkei and Nikkei Asia, the Financial Times, The New York Times, Bloomberg News were all affected. In addition to Amazon’s websites, its Twitch gaming platform was also unstable.
