Newcastle United will be looking to invest heavily in their squad over the next several transfer windows and a trio of Manchester United players, including Paul Pogba, could be on their radar
The North East club are suddenly cash-rich following their change of ownership and they are expected to invest heavily in their first-team squad over the next several transfer windows.
The Magpies have now been linked to a trio of players at Old Trafford, who are likely to attempt to slim down their squad next year.
The most notable name whose future in Manchester is most dubious is star central midfielder Paul Pogba, who is out of contract at the club next summer.
Former Newcastle legend Chris Waddle has now urged the club to make an audacious move for the French international, claiming that they have the money to fund such a move.
He believes that landing a player of Pogba’s status would help lift the club and would set the tone for what the club are hopeful of achieving under their new ownership.
Waddle told The Sun : “Paul Pogba’s out of contract isn’t he?’
“Now people might say about Newcastle — but money talks.
“If they sell the dream about what we’re going to win and achieve, it might.”
Waddle then went on to namecheck multiple other players who Newcastle could look to target over the next several windows as they look to build a new squad.
The former England international has encouraged the club to look to sign players of the right age group who would be able to provide the building blocks for a team in the medium to long term.
Among those who Waddle believes could be on Newcastle’s radar are Manchester United duo Anthony Martial and Donny van de Beek – both of whom are out of favour currently at Old Trafford.

“And then, do you raid the big teams? Your Bayern Munichs and teams like that and say ‘we want him, we want him’.
“Test them. Could you get somebody like Eden Hazard out from Real Madrid? On loan even until the end of the season and then pay a fee.
“Federico Chiesa, yes. Moussa Diaby. Anthony Martial, not fitting in to Manchester United — all available. Donny van de Beek.
“And then do you test teams like Arsenal for your people like Emile Smith Rowe?
“What about Kalvin Phillips at Leeds? Declan Rice. Marco Asensio at Real Madrid.
“There are so many talented players at a good age, and this is what it’s about.
“It’s not about buying 31 or 32-year-olds and thinking ‘we’ll use you for a year’ and paying an absolute fortune.
“It’s about building a team over the next five years. Yes, of course, you’ll add to it, get some players out.
“But the first three, four, five signings are people who you think will pen a five or six-year contract and will be there for that period of time.”
