Netflix has reportedly suffered an outage in London, meaning customers are unable to watch any content.

Reports started appearing at 10.26am Wednesday morning as subscribers took to social media to complain about the outage.

The website Downdetector confirmed that viewers in the UK were unable to get online – with London seemingly being the hardest hit.

It appears that most people affected are trying to access Netflix through a browser, rather than the service’s dedicated app.

Thousands viewers were met with the NSES-500 error code after trying to load the service.

Netflix customer Lydi Marie-Godley posted on Downdetector: ‘Error Code NSES-500 cannot connect but internet is working fine and I’ve cleared internet browsing history and cache.’

Steve Pettifer added: ‘NSES-500 here too in UK Win10 Pro, Chrome 88 & Chrome 89). Sounds like a broken deployment – I can imagine some sweaty-palmed engineers right now looking to roll back a release and waiting for a telling off!’

Netflix has a help page devoted to the NSES-500 error, which usually occurs when the information in the browser needs to be refreshed.

The site suggests refreshing the page and trying again – it may help to log out and log in again.
