GOOD MORNING FOOTY FANS
Manchester City and Tottenham will need something spectacular tonight to match Olivier Giroud’s heroics for Chelsea.
Giroud’s awesome overhead, disallowed until VAR consultation, earned Chelsea a 1-0 Champions League win against LaLiga leaders Atletico Madrid in Romania.
Now it’s City’s last-16 first-leg turn – with Euro 2021 Phil Foden expected to return against Borussia Monchengladbach in Budapest.
And in the Europa League, Spurs hold a 4-1 leg as Wolfsberger visit for the last-32 return leg.
Tottenham chief Jose Mourinho is shrugging off five losses in six Prem games – one of his worst runs ever as a manager – by insisting: “I feel very confident and believe we are going to improve
“I also believe I will be in Tottenham’s history for the good reasons and not for the bad reasons.”
Off the pitch, Chelsea are reportedly confident of beating Manchester United to Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland – thanks to a burgeoning relationship with his agent Mino Raiola .
And midfielder Juan Mata, 32, is being linked with a move to Juventus, Roma and Inter Milan when his United deal runs out in the summer.
