A mum has figured out a nifty way to remove dog hair from her carpets – by using a pumice stone.

While the stone is usually used to smooth out rough feet by rubbing away dead skin, the cleaning fan found a way to use the stone to get rid of dastardly dog hairs.

Taking to the Facebook group Mrs Hinch Cleaning Tips – in honour of Instagram cleaning queen Mrs Hinch – she revealed her genius hack.

The mum posted a video of herself using the £2 pumice stone to clear animal fluff from carpets on her stairs.

In the clip she simply brushes her staircase with the stone and a bunch of fine white hairs gather in one place, making them easy to remove.

She wrote in a caption alongside the video: ‘Dog friends, which I believe are all of my friends, this might change your life.

‘I was at the tint shop a few weeks ago waiting for them to tint my new windshield.

‘A young lady was detailing another vehicle when she came over to talk to me. I think she was disgusted by my truck, as she should be.

‘You know all of those dog hairs that weave in and out of the carpet? The ones you can’t seem to get with the vacuum?

‘She showed me this… just a simple pumice stone. And then gave me hers. My life is now changed.’

Her post has amassed more than 115,000 likes and 71,000 comments from grateful Hinchers who thanked her for sharing the tip.

One person said: ‘OMG this has just made my day.’

Another commented: ‘I need to try this on my stair carpet as I have a cat and he’s always lying on it. Thanks for the tip.’

Other suggestions shared in the group for tackling pesky dog hair included a rubber broom and some damp rubber gloves.

It looks like we have another carpet saved by merry Hinchers.
