Miriam Margolye's wholesome reaction as Alan Cumming surprises her with special tartan

Miriam Margolye and Alan Cumming are starring in their own Channel 4 road-trip show and the pair shared the most beautiful moment at a tartan factory.

The three part series entitled Mirian and Alan: Lost in Scotland sees them travel Scotland in an RV as the pair try to retrace their Scottish roots, which leads them to causing mischief across the country.

The iconic duo visited a tartan factory where Alan announced that he had customised their own tartan and named it ‘Aliam’ where every colour on it has a meaning behind.

Alan describes the personalised tartan he created

Channel 4 shared a clip online from their road-trip and Alan begins telling Miriam: “There’s a new tartan in the world, called Aliam.”

Confused, she questioned: “Aliam?”

When Cummings confirms, the actress catches on saying: “You and me, boy.”

Alan goes onto describe the tartan to Miriam, explaining why he chose certain colours and what they mean.

He tells her: “This is our tartan.

“I did all this months ago. I chose all the colours for special reasons.

“Turmeric for the soil of Australia, your adopted home.

“This blue colour because it is the Jewish colour for Hanukah.”

Miriam chimes in: “And my mummy called me birdie blue.”

Alan continues, “That’s great! And this lilac colour, because it’s the colour of sapphism.”

After this, Alan hands Miriam her very own ‘Aliam’ tartan blanket where we see her exclaim how much she loves the blanket before showing her the registration for official Scottish tartans.

Fans absolutely loved this heartfelt gesture from Alan, and even more so with Miriam’s reaction of pure delight from the gift.

One fan wrote: “I can’t imagine a better duo. She is so brilliant I could eat her with a spoon. She is so free and silly and open hearted.”

Someone replied: “Loving this show. So natural and what a nice chap Alan Cummings is. A laugh a minute and tears as well.”
