Mikel Arteta has confirmed Bukayo Saka will undergo a scan on Sunday to determine the extent of the injury he sustained during this afternoon’s win over Newcastle.

The Gunners bounced back from last week’s defeat against Liverpool with a routine win over Eddie Howe’s relegation threatened side thanks to second half goals from Saka and his replacement Gabriel Martinelli.

Saka opened the scoring 11 minutes after the interval with a crisp low shot, but was unable to continue when he appeared to sustain a hip injury.

Arsenal face a testing trip to Old Trafford on Thursday and Arteta is hopeful that Saka will be fit enough to feature.

He said: ‘It was an action where he said he felt something and he said he wasn’t comfortable to continue and we will have to assess him tomorrow and probably scan him and see if there is any injury there.

‘He felt something muscular, let’s see what it is.’
