Arteta gives Arsenal team news before Everton clash

December is set to be a busy month for Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal side.

The Gunners kicked off the month with a disappointing 3-2 loss to Manchester United on Thursday night and will face Everton at Goodison Park on Monday.

One player Arteta is hoping to be able to rely upon during the busy Christmas period is captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who desperately needs to get back firing goals in over the next month.

It comes after the Gunners boss made an offer to a Premier League legend to come and help the club, and one club legend receiving some tragic news.

Arteta’s Toure offer

Gunners boss Mikel Arteta would like Yaya Toure to join the club as a coach.

The two worked together at Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City and Toure is currently volunteering at Tottenham Hotspur while he gains his coach qualifications.

And the Arsenal manager has told Toure to call him should he want to pick up any further experience with the Gunners.

It comes after Arteta offered ex-Gunners midfielder Jack Wilshere the chance to train with the club and coach the under-17’s team back in October.

Aubameyang’s woes

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has to take some of the responsibility for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s troubles in front of goal this season.

The Gunners have struggled to consistently find the back of the net this season, with Aubameyang missing a number of good opportunities in recent weeks.

When Arteta arrived at the club two years ago, the Gabon international was scoring goals for fun but the numbers show just how his performances have declined under Arteta’s leadership.

Arsenal legend’s tragic news

Gunners legend Ian Wright had to leave ITV’s live FA Cup coverage midway through a match on Sunday after receiving some tragic news.

Wright had been providing punditry for the Rochdale and Plymouth Argyle encounter when he was sadly informed of a family bereavement.

Presenter Mark Pougatch broke the news at half-time when he said: “Ian, I’m afraid is not [with us at half-time]. A family bereavement, so he has gone to where he is most needed – with his family.”

The Arsenal legend has since been flooded with messages of support on social media following the tragic news.
