Mikel Arteta looks set to continue trimming his squad this month with two players reportedly set to depart – although his top transfer target has rejected the club
Arsenal are ramping up their January transfer window business with two stars set to leave the club – although a move for their top target has reportedly failed.
Dusan Vlahovic will not be moving to the Emirates Stadium this month according to reports and will instead take his time before deciding on a big-money transfer in the summer after being linked with a host of top clubs from across Europe.
It comes after Mikel Arteta’s side crashed out the FA Cup with their 1-0 third-round loss to Nottingham Forest – and one first-team regular has been spotted shouting at his teammate during the game.
Here are Mirror Football’s latest Arsenal headlines.
Ramsdale shouts at Leno
Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale was spotted shouting at Bernd Leno during Arsenal’s loss to Nottingham Forest.
Ramsdale was brought into the club last summer and had been expected to provide competition for Leno this season.
But following the Gunners’ disappointing start to the season, Ramsdale was given his chance in the first team and has taken his chance with his fine form cementing his status as the club’s new No.1 goalkeeper.
Leno made a rare start at the City Ground as Ramsdale was rested, but the 23-year-old could be seen shouting at his counterpart from the Arsenal bench during the game.
Duo set for exits
Arsenal’s defensive duo Pablo Mari and Sead Kolasinac look set to be the next stars to leave the club this month after Ainsley Maitland-Niles sealed his loan move to Roma.
Kolasinac has reportedly caught the eye of French side Marseille while Mari has been linked with a move to AC Milan.
And the latest reports have suggested that both transfers could now just be days away as Mikel Arteta continues to trim his squad during this month’s transfer window.
Vlahovic rejects Arsenal move
Dusan Vlahovic has turned down a move to the Emirates Stadium during this month’s transfer window, it has been reported.
The Serbian forward, who impressed for Italian side Fiorentina in 2021 as he netted a record-tying 33 Serie A goals during a single calendar year, is said to instead want to remain at the club until next summer before deciding on his next move.
But the striker also has other reasons for turning down the Gunners, and one involves bitter rivals Tottenham Hotspur.
