On Tuesday, Michelle Williams transformed into the late, great Broadway dancer Gwen Verdon on the snowy Manhattan set of Fosse/Verdon, which premieres April 9 on FX.

The 38-year-old actress covered her platinum pixie cut with a curly short red Stacey Butterworth wig to better embody the four-time Tony Award winner, who passed away in 2000.

The sweats-clad four-time Oscar nominee looked barely recognizable in the high-volume hairpiece coiffed by Christopher Fulton and her make-up was applied by David Presto.

The eight-part limited series centers on the real-life romantic and creative partnership between Verdon and her second husband, director-choreographer Bob Fosse.

Gwen (Damn Yankees, New Girl in Town, etc.) and the Oscar-winning filmmaker were married until his 1987 death and ‘together, they changed the face of American entertainment – at a perilous cost.’

Remarkably, both Williams and Oscar winner Sam Rockwell reportedly earned equal pay for their performances in Fosse/Verdon, which is based on Sam Wasson’s 2013 biography Fosse.

Michelle’s passion for Fosse was evident back in 2014 when she made her Broadway debut as singer Sally Bowles in a Studio 54 revival of his most famous musical, Cabaret.

The project is fully authorized with Gwen and Bob’s daughter Nicole Fosse executive producing and supervising all aspects of production alongside Hamilton’s Lin-Manuel Miranda.

‘My mother and father have one of the greatest love stories ever known,’ the 55-year-old Broadway thespian told THR in a statement.

‘They were extremely complex people with an indestructible bond, loyalty and trust that endured both fantasy and reality. Finally, we have a creative team with the talent and wisdom to tell the story.’

Fosse/Verdon also features Paul Reiser, Evan Handler, Margaret Qualley, Norbert Leo Butz, Laura Osnes, Kelli Barrett, and Ethan Slater.
