Michelle Heaton says she was so thin during addiction hell her liver 'stuck out'


Michelle Heaton has claimed she was so thin during her addiction battle that doctors could feel her “liver sticking out”.

The former Liberty X star has s pent a month under the care of specialists who have been helping her conquer her drink and drug habit.

She is now sober after her stint in The Priory, and has opened up about her ordeal in a new interview.

Michelle has admitted her weight plummeted at the height of her addiction hell, and she was having problems with her liver.

Speaking to The Sun, she claimed doctors could even feel the organ through her skin as she was so thin.

She said: “My doctor could feel my liver sticking out because I was so thin.”

Michelle added her skin is also covered in scars from scratching herself as itchiness was another symptom of her liver problems.

She added: “I had scratch scars because liver issues make your skin itchy.”

During the interview, she admitted she was drinking up to two bottles of wine and a bottle of vodka a day, calling the amount she was putting away “ludicrous”.

Michelle also confessed there would times when she would “be sick then… drink more” and “rock bottom with the alcohol” last September and had “excruciating pains”.

Her celebrity friends, including former glamour girl Katie Price, staged an intervention and helped get Michelle into The Priory where she got the help she needed.

She is now on the road to recovery, and today she posted a picture of herself being reunited with her husband Hugh and two kids on the steps outside the rehab centre when she was discharged.

Michelle captioned the snap: “I’ve been given a second chance at life and I know I’m lucky to have that,” she told her followers.

“I’m overwhelmed with all the support and messages I’ve received when I was in rehab and since I’ve been out.

“Thank you to my family, friends, people I’ve met – and not met. It really does mean a lot x.”
