Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton's 'secret calls' in bid for truce over feud

Meghan Markle has reportedly reached out to the Duchess of Cambridge in a bid to restore the bond between the Royal Family and her and husband Prince Harry.

Markle knows the influence that Kate Middleton has within the Royal household and has gone to her in order to bid for a truce to end the long-standing feud, according to The Mirror.

Meghan and Harry have appeared in numerous interviews to explain their decision to step down from the Royal Family, and it is now said Meghan is afraid she will lose her title due to the backlash that the couple have faced.

A royal expert has now claimed that Meghan realises she “underestimated” the power that Kate has within the household and believes that a truce can be formed this way.

A source has said: “Meghan’s fearful of losing her title, and the repercussions of Harry’s statements about the Royals in his recent Apple TV+ documentary with Oprah Winfrey.

“She’s secretly reached out to Kate, as she knows that the only hope they can have of smoothing things over with the family is to get Kate on their side.”

While it’s claimed that Kate is wary of getting involved, she wants the situation to be sorted out.

The source added to heat magazine: “Kate would rather stay out of any ‘secret talks’, as she fears anything she says could be used against her.

“But she wants peace and civility, especially seeing how much pain this caused William, Charles and the Queen.

“Her only words of wisdom for Meghan and Harry are to stop once and for all with the public outbursts.”

The Mirror has contacted Kensington Palace and reps for Meghan Markle and is awaiting comment.

Last month, Harry made a string of shocking claims about his family in his Apple TV show The Me You Can’t See.

He claimed that when he and Meghan were struggling they were refused help from the Royal Family.

Harry said: “Certainly now I will never be bullied into silence.

“I thought my family would help, but every single ask, request, warning, whatever it is, just got met with total silence, total neglect.

“We spent four years trying to make it work. We did everything that we possibly could to stay there and carry on doing the role and doing the job. But Meghan was struggling.”

It came after he appeared on the Armchair Expert podcast with Dax Shepard, in which he said he wanted to “break the cycle” of “suffering” with his own children, Archie, two, and newborn Lilibet.

He compared his life as a royal to the 1998 film The Truman Show, starring Jim Carrey as a man oblivious to the fact that his entire life is a TV show, and to being an animal in a zoo.

Harry said: “There is no blame. I don’t think we should be pointing the finger or blaming anybody, but certainly when it comes to parenting, if I’ve experienced some form of pain or suffering because of the pain or suffering that perhaps my father or my parents had suffered, I’m going to make sure I break that cycle so that I don’t pass it on, basically.

“It’s a lot of genetic pain and suffering that gets passed on anyway so we as parents should be doing the most we can to try and say ‘you know what, that happened to me, I’m going to make sure that doesn’t happen to you.'”
