Tom appeared on Strictly last night for his dancefloor debut with professional partner Amy Dowden on the first live show of the new series.
The duo danced the cha cha cha to September by Earth Wind and Fire.
However, since the performance, the singer’s health has gone downhill and his band McFly have just announced he can no longer play the SSE Hydro show tonight.
In an announcement they wrote on Twitter: “Unfortunately Tom is unwell and won’t be onstage with us tonight in Glasgow.
“He sends huge and heartfelt apologies to all the fans he won’t see tonight.
“The show will still be going ahead, we’re looking forward to seeing you all and need you guys to sing extra loud for us tonight.”
The BBC said later in a statement: “Tom Fletcher and Amy Dowden have tested positive for Covid-19. The pair are now self-isolating separately following the latest government guidelines.
“While they will both miss Saturday’s live show, Strictly Come Dancing protocols mean that all being well, they will return the following week.”
Fans sent their sympathies in droves and many felt he was maybe doing too much with his music and dancing.
One said: “Hope he is doing ok. I’m gutted, but knowing you guys it’ll still be amazing. I’m looking forward to it none the less.”
Another said: “He looked dead on his feet at the end of Strictly. And he’s TOO THIN! This comes from a place of love, and is not criticism.
And someone else said: “Not surprised with everything he’s had to do! hope he gets better soon.”
Another volunteered: “He has been dealing with a bad throat for a week now so I’m guessing with the hectic touring and practising for Strictly it has taken its toll on him.”
