Governor Muhammad Belllo Matawalle of Zamfara State and his counterparts of Sokoto, Kebbi and Katsina would meet President Muhammad Buhari over border closure in their respective states.
Speaking at Sardauna Memorial stadium Gusau on Tuesday during the distribution of welfare assistance to PDP supporters, Matawalle said, “The border closure is creating untold hardship to the people of Sokoto, Zamfara, Kebbi and Katsina states, particularly those close to the borders.”
He maintained that following the closure of borders, socioeconomic activities of the people of these states had been hampered, assuring the people of the states that the governors would meet the President on the issue.
“Iand the governors of Sokoto, Kebbi and Katsina have discussed on the issue and we plan to see Mr. President to know how best we can solve this problem.”
Meanwhile, socioeconomic activities of the people of the four states of Zamfara, Sokoto, Kebbi and Katsina have been crippled following the closure of some borders in those states.
The affected borders are Illela border in Sokoto state, Kamba and Tsamiya borders in Kebbi state, Jibia border in Katsina state and Gidan Jaja border in Zamfara state.
