Manchester United have confirmed a deal to sign Atalanta winger Amad Diallo.

The 18-year-old has been on United’s radar for the last three years and has been heavily scouted by the club’s Italian network, who rate him as one of the most exciting prospects in Europe.

The teenager has made just three Serie A appearances for Atalanta but United have seen enough to stump up £37.3m for his signature – £17m of which is based on achievable add-ons.

Diallo – also known as Traore – will join the club in January subject to gaining a work permit and passing a medical with the club.

Taking to Instagram after the deal was announced, the winger expressed his happiness of joining the Red Devils.

‘A dream come true,’ said Diallo.

The winger is United’s third signing of the day following the arrivals of Alex Telles and Willy Kambwala.

The club hope to announced a deal for Edinson Cavani before the deadline closes but as he’s a free agent there is less pressure to officially confirm the deal.

A move for Ousmane Dembele has fallen through as United were unwilling to sign the Frenchman on a permanent basis and Barcelona were reluctant to let him leave on loan.

The former Rennes ace was seen as a viable alternative to Dortmund winger Jadon Sancho, who was the club’s priority throughout the transfer window.

The 20-year-old was valued at £108m by Dortmund but United were unwilling to spend that much on the winger.
