Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is expecting a quiet January transfer window and insists he is ‘very happy’ with his Manchester United squad.

United’s low-key summer of transfer activity ended in a flurry with the acquisitions of the likes of Edinson Cavani and Alex Telles on deadline day.

Before then, only Donny van de Beek had come through the doors at Old Trafford after the Red Devils completed a £40million deal to sign the midfielder from Ajax.

Solskjaer missed out on bringing in top target Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund and a new centre-back partner for Harry Maguire.

Meanwhile, on the pitch, United have endured a stuttering start to the season after losing three of their opening eight league games.

But they have started to turn things around in recent weeks and their 4-1 demolition of Istanbul Basaksehir on Tuesday was their third straight victory in all competitions.

And speaking ahead of United’s upcoming clash away at Southampton on Sunday, Solskjaer admitted he is satisfied with his current squad and isn’t expecting many ins and outs in the upcoming winter window.

‘Hard to predict the financial situation of other teams,’ the Norwegian boss said

‘I don’t predict a lot of ins and outs, the football world has changed. Depends on injury situations etc.

‘I am very happy with my squad, we are getting stronger. I feel I am in a good position.’

After their tricky beginning to the new campaign, Solskjaer finally feels like his side are beginning to show some consistency.

‘Of course we want the run to continue but we know how well Southampton have done in the last year or so,’ he added.

‘We have a good away record and we are up there since turn of January. We have been pushing up the table, and we are getting that consistency.

‘It is a nice challenge and a good test for us to see if we have learnt our lessons.’
