Manchester United’s new era under Erik ten Hag was meant to be one full of hope and promise following their worst ever Premier League campaign, but so far it has failed to live up to any heights, with not a single fresh face through the doors.

However, a deal seems to be growing closer for Ajax winger Antony and the Brazilian is now ‘determined’ to reunite with Ten Hag in the north west this summer, but the lack of transfer activity at the club has ‘worried’ Cristiano Ronaldo and made him ‘doubt’ his future with the Red Devils.

Mirror Football takes a look at all the latest transfer stories coming out of Old Trafford…

Antony ‘determined’ on Ten Hag reunion

Following reports of Manchester United officials flying over to Amsterdam to further progress talks with Ajax over a deal for their Brazilian winger Antony, it has been widely believed that a deal for Erik ten Hag’s first signing at the club is growing ever closer.

And it has since been revealed that the 22-year-old is ‘determined’ to secure a move to Old Trafford and reunite with former Ajax boss Ten Hag this summer, according to GOAL, following on from the pair’s Eredivisie title triumph in the Dutch capital last term.

United have held ‘informal discussions’ with Antony over a move to the Premier League side ahead of next season, although no official bid has yet been submitted to Ajax for the Brazilian, who is thought to cost the Red Devils around £40 million.

Ronaldo admits future ‘doubts’

As we begin to approach the one-year anniversary of Cristiano Ronaldo rejoining Manchester United, yet another story over his future at the club has emerged, although this one certainly has some substance behind it.

According to Spanish newspaper AS, Ronaldo isn’t happy with United at the moment and the Portuguese ace is in fact ‘worried’ by the club’s slow start to the summer, in which United have so far failed to replace any of the five outfield players who have departed this month.

The report goes on to say that the 37-year-old feels that United are falling even further behind Manchester City and Liverpool, who have added to their attacking firepower with the additions of Erling Haaland and Darwin Nunez, respectively, and has ‘doubts’ over their chances next season.

United prepared to sell five defenders

Despite having already released Edinson Cavani, Jesse Lingard, Juan Mata, Nemanja Matic and Paul Pogab this summer, Erik ten Hag is determined to continue his cull of the Manchester United squad and is prepared to sell up to five defenders, according to the Manchester Evening News.

Diogo Dalot, Harry Maguire, Raphael Varane and Luke Shaw are all expected to remain as United’s primary back four for the start of next season, but Ten Hag is looking to bolster his options and has been desperately trying to sign Ajax duo Jurrien Timber and Lisandro Martinez.

But in order to do so, he will need to sell, and the likes of Eric Bailly, Phil Jones, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Axel Tuanzebe are all likely to depart Old Trafford this summer, while the futures of Victor Lindelof and Alex Telles are also not fully decided as of yet.
