Anthony Martial future
Jose Mourinho has hinted Anthony Martial will be part of his plans next season.
When discussing Alexis Sanchez not being on tour with visa issues he name-dropped Martial in his thinking.
“Hopefully he [Sanchez] join us later,” Mourinho said. “Because it would be important at least to work with Mata, Alexis, Martial, which we think are the players we have in attack for the start of the season.
“No Lukaku, no Lingard, no Marcus Rashford, so if Alexis is not working with us for 15 or 20 days it will be very bad.”
Luke Shaw plea
Luke Shaw hopes to convince Jose Mourinho he can still save his Manchester United career.
Shaw struggled last term with injuries and dips in form.
Jose Mourinho was critical of him but he hopes to turn things around.
“I look back over the last few years and I haven’t really had a massive run in the team,” he admitted.
“The year I broke my leg was the best year in my career at United. I felt really strong and good and obviously it was unfortunate with the injury.
“It’s annoying for me to say I need to prove myself but I know what I can do and that’s why I’m still here. I’m sure that’s what the manager thinks because I don’t think I would still be involved right now if he didn’t believe in me. I’ve had a good chat with him and I’m looking forward to the season and getting back to my best.”
Alex Sandro update
Manchester United are ready to land Juventus star Alex Sandro – when Jose Mourinho green lights the deal.
The Brazil international was tipped to head to the Premier League in January, with the Red Devils and Chelsea keen on the left-back.
However, a move didn’t materialise, with Juve refusing to sell the 27-year-old, who they valued at around £60m.
United are expected to make another move for Sandro this summer with Mourinho keen to bolster his defence at Old Trafford.
And according to The Independent, Juve have named their price for Sandro.
They say United see him as the perfect addition, should Mourinho decide to sign a new left-back.
Manchester United will wrap up a deal for Ivan Perisic this summer.
That’s the verdict of former Arsenal ace Stewart Robson, who says the winger’s impressive World Cup will have reignited United’s interest.
Perisic was on Jose Mourinho’s wanted list last year as the United boss looked for someone to provide the ammunition for new hitman Romelu Lukaku.
But he missed out on a deal with United unwilling to meet the asking price Inter Milan had slapped on the Croatia international.
Perisic’s exploits as his country secured a shock World Cup final berth have seen him heavily linked with United once again.
Robson, who now works as a pundit in the USA, is backing the 29-year-old to finally seal his switch to Old Trafford this summer.
“Alexis Sanchez plays in his position,” Robson told ESPN FC. “He [Sanchez] didn’t do particularly well last season.
“Perisic, there was talk about him going to Manchester United last year.
“I think he had a good enough World Cup for Manchester United to be interested again.
“I think he will go to United and he will be a hit.”
