Manchester United have received an initial offer from AC Milan of £12m for Diogo Dalot.
The right-back is spending the season on loan at the Italian side having struggled for opportunities at Old Trafford.
He was signed by Jose Mourinho in 2018, but the arrival of Aaron Wan-Bissaka 12 months later greatly affected his game time.
Milan have looked to test United’s resolve by offering an opening bid – which is £6m less than the £18m he cost the Red Devils, reports the Metro.
Dalot is open to the idea of leaving Old Trafford on a permanent basis while his club are prepared to sanction his sale.
United are keen to at least break even on the full-back though meaning Milan’s offer is likely to be rejected.
If an agreement can’t be found that the Portuguese star will return to the club before a decision is made on his next move.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has previously talked up Dalot’s chances of a future in Manchester
“The plan was always for Diogo this season, or the main thing for Diogo, was to be fit,” said the Norwegian.
“He never managed to be fit for a long spell when he was here [and was] unfortunate with injuries. Now he’s kept fit all season; he’s been available for them.
“He’s playing at a big club, big expectations, [with the] great history of the club, so it’s been a good year for him.
“So, of course, I’ve been very pleased with his development this season, and he’s our player and we’re looking forward to having him back.”
Dalot has made 24 appearances in all competitions for Milan this term.
