Man Utd 'issue Alex Telles transfer ultimatum' as Solskjaer's plans start to take shape

Manchester United have reportedly told Alex Telles that he would need to leave permanently if he wants to depart Old Trafford this summer, ruling out a loan switch for the 28-year-old.

Telles is believed to be happy at United, despite boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer preferring Luke Shaw at left-back over the Brazilian.

He made just nine Premier League appearances for the Red Devils after completing a £15million move from Porto last summer.

Shaw’s excellent form limited Telles’ involvement in their domestic competitions. Instead, Telles made the majority of his 23 appearances during United’s run to the Europa League final.

However, he did not start either of their semi-final matches against Roma and then featured for only a minute of the final defeat against Villarreal.

Telles has explained that he initially struggled to adapt to Premier League football but that he is hoping to play in more matches next season.

“Yes, I believe I’ve made the most of this season,” he told the club’s official website.

“I’ve learnt a great deal, I learnt a lot of things, I’ve developed as a player and a person as well.

“I’m really happy with my first season at United and I’m sure that next season will be even better.

“I think I always took the opportunity to do my best whenever I was on the pitch.

“I had good games, with the adaptation process the first season isn’t easy, but I believe that when Ole gave me the opportunity and placed his trust in me and put me on the pitch, I did my best.

“I’m sure that I’ll continue doing even better to spend more time on the pitch and get a lot more minutes.

“I really want to score my first goal, I can’t wait. I scored a lot of goals previously at Porto and now I’m really looking forward to playing and scoring my first goal.”
