Man Utd adamant Paul Pogba will be on pre-season tour despite Real Madrid interest


Doubts over the midfielder’s future amid interest from Real Madrid and Juventus have even seen Old Trafford chiefs draw up a shortlist of potential replacements.

But now sources at the club have made it clear that he is expected to return to Carrington this weekend before boarding the flight to Perth which leaves on Sunday.

Pogba is currently away on a commercial trip with Adidas in New York and will be one of the last Manchester United players to report back for pre-season training.

New signing Aaron Wan-Bissaka has been granted holiday after sealing his £50million switch from Crystal Palace in the wake of the U21 European Championships.

Alexis Sanchez is in Brazil for the Copa America as Chile crashed out 3-0 in the semi-finals to Peru. He still has a third place play-off to play against Argentina this weekend.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was keen to gain clarity on the futures of Pogba and Romelu Lukaku before his United squad jetted off Down Under.

The Norwegian has penciled in face-to-face talks, already aware that both of his players are open to a move away this summer.

World Cup winner Pogba has United running worried after his comments last month while on a trip to Tokyo, where he stated he was open to a new challenge.

“Like you said, there is a lot of talking and a lot of thinking as well,” Pogba said.

“For me I have been for three years in Manchester and have been doing great; some good moments and some bad moments, like everybody. Like everywhere else.

“After this season and everything that happened this season, with my season being my best season as well… I think for me it could be a good time to have a new challenge somewhere else.

“I am thinking of this – to have a new challenge somewhere else.”
