Man O’ War commander in transit killed in Oyo community


Suspected gunmen have shot dead one of the commanders of Man O’War in Igboora in Oyo State.

Our correspondent gathered that the deceased, Oluwole Olabode, was shot dead on Monday at Iwere Ile while on his way to Ibarapa.

It was not clear whether he was travelling on a motorcycle or trekking but residents of Ibarapa told our correspondent on Wednesday that he was killed on Monday.

The incident was said to have been reported to the police at Igangan Police Station around 9.40pm on the same day by those who found his lifeless body on the road

The body was reportedly retrieved later and the victim was said to have been buried.

The reason for the killing could also not be ascertained as at the time of filing this report, but the Police Public Relations Officer in Oyo State, Mr Adewale Osifeso, confirmed the incident to our correspondent on the telephone.

He said the police had begun investigation to unravel those behind the killing.

The PPRO said, “The unfortunate incident was reported around 21.40 hours on Monday.

“Our operatives acted upon information received about a lifeless body, who was later discovered to be that of late Olabode Oluwole, aged 33, lying along Iwere-Ile Road.

 Investigations are still actively ongoing as of this moment.”
