The new Theatre Commander of the Joint Task Force of Operation Hadin Kai, Maj.-Gen. Christopher Gwabin Musa, has taken over the mantle of leadership of the Theater Command Headquarters from the outgoing Acting Theater Commander, Major General Felix Omoigui, who has been deployed to Nigeria Army Headquarters, Abuja.
Until his appointment, Maj. Gen. Musa was at the Military Resource Center Abuja before th new Chief if Army Staff (COAS), Major General Umar Farouq Yahaya appointed him as the Theater Command Joint Task Force Operation Hadin Kai.
Speaking to journalists immediately he took over, General Musa solicited for support, cooperation and understanding with the media, while describing the media as vital stakeholders.
“We are all stakeholders in the fight against insurgency,. We are all inclusive and Nigerians . This war is ours. It not only for the military. We all have to join hands together and fight the war”.
“Media plays a great role in the counter insurgency. Without the media, the war can not be won. We all have to put our heads together to finish the fight”.
“I am ever ready to work with the media. My doors are open. You can contact us anytime. We will not hide anything from you. We will carry you along. We are together. All we need is your support and cooperation to end the war”.
“Asymmetric warfare like Boko Haram, is a continuous war. It is evolving and we have to also evolve in our approach,” Musa said.
The commander also solicited the support of the media in the counter-insurgency operation while pledging to be opened in his leadership of the newly reconstituted military Joint Task Force Operation Hadin Kai.
Earlier, the outgoing Theater Commander, Maj. Gen. Felix Omoigui said “the troops are disciplined and well trained. They are hard working, obedient, loyal and cooperative.”
“I know the kind of troops we have that i am handing over. They are well trained professionally and disciplined. But I urge all of them to support and coooerate with the new Theater Commander in order to succeed”.
“I know him for longer. He is my course mate 36. Give him all the necessary support and cooperation that you gave me for him to succeed even better. I promise to always pray for you and will also visit you from time to time from my new assignment” , Omoigui said
