Madonna has become the latest celeb to come out in support of Britney Spears as the 39-year-old battles to end her conservatorship.
The 62-year-old joins the ever growing list of famous faces criticising the legal order and called it a “violation of human rights”.
She took to her Instagram Stories on Thursday to share an image of herself wearing a t-shirt with Britney’s name emblazoned across it in purple writing.
And she promised to help get the Toxic singer “out of jail”.
She wrote: “Give this woman her life back. Slavery was abolished so long ago! Death to the greedy patriarchy that has been doing this to women for centuries.
“This is a violation of human rights! Britney we coming to get you out of jail!”
The popular singers collaborated on the 2003 hit on Me Against the Music and notoriously shared a smooch on stage at the MTV VMAs in the same year.
A year later, Britney also presented the Vogue vocalist with a lifetime achievement award at the NRJ Awards in France.
And years later after several outbursts, Britney revealed that Madonna played a key part in getting her career back on track.
“I guess she’s really taught me to stay true to myself,” Britney told Harper’s Bazaar in 2011. “That seems like a simple thing to say, but she taught me through action, not just by saying it.
“There are so many people around you that have opinions, but you just have to listen to your instincts.”
The show of solidarity from the Like a Prayer singer follows claims that several A-listers are planning on setting up a fighting fund to help free her from her conservatorship.
The likes of Mariah Carey, Miley Cyrus and Katy Perry have all reportedly stepped forward to show their support for the pop princess and help her pay her legal fees as she tries to end the arrangement that has governed her life and finances since 2008.
Britney’s father Jamie, 68, was granted control over her affairs by court order in 13 years ago after the singer was put in hospital amid concerns over her mental health.
Paris Hilton also spoke out about the case on her podcast this week. The socialite called Britney “incredibly brave and an inspiration for speaking her truth”.
During the 23 minute speech to the courts in Los Angeles on June 23, Britney accused her dad of intimidating her and forcing her into work, while also claiming that she had been banned from getting married or having any more kids.
