Lord Sugar jokes there are no Scots on The Apprentice series because of Nicola Sturgeon

Lord Sugar has joked there are no Scots on The Apprentice for the sixth series – because of Nicola Sturgeon.

Salon owner Natalie Hughes was the last Scot to appear on the hit reality show in 2016.

The second episode of the new series returns tonight and the former Labour peer took a jokey pop at First Minister Sturgeon’s Covid restrictions.

He told the Record: “The only problem with Scotland is the woman up there who keeps closing the borders all the time.

“We do auditions and invite everybody from all over the country – Irish, Scottish, from Manchester, Leeds, all over the place. It’s just the way it pans out.

“It’s not intentional and it’s just a coincidence.”

And the billionaire boss has a dream Scot he’d love to see on the show – former Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson, 80.

Lord Sugar said: “I like the Scots. I love Sir Alex. I’d love to have him as a candidate. I’m sure he’d win.”
