Free food is always a crowd-pleaser – even more so, when it marks a special occasion.

One London restaurant is making summer a little more special by offering a free kebab to anyone who gets their vaccine throughout August.

Contemporary kebab house Le Bab is behind the initiative and the team have even come up with a catchy name for it – Babs for Jabs.

Anyone looking to snap up the freebie must have had their vaccine within the past seven days.

They will also need to send proof of this via an Instagram DM (@eatlebab) or email (info@eatlebab.com), in order to book their nearest Le Bab restaurant for dining in or for takeaway – from 12pm-7pm.

Currently, there are venues in Soho, Old Street and Covent Garden – but pre-booking is essential.

The offer, which is running from Thursday 5 August – Tuesday 31 August, includes any kebab on the menu – so there’s plenty to get stuck into.

Each site has a slightly different offering, but there are both meaty and veggie options galore. Some crowd favourites include the fried chicken shish, pork shawarma and the Dorset lamb ‘Madras’ kebab.

While veggies can feast on the legendary paneer kebab or the spice-roasted aubergine sabich, which comes with house chilli sauce, peanut pesto and vegan mayo.

So, alongside the obvious, there’s now another reason to celebrate getting vaxxed.

Plus, if you’re feeling rotten after your jab, a free meal is likely to lift your spirits.

It looks like August is set to be a big month for food lovers, as Greggs has just announced a brand new plant-based item that’s landing in stores very soon – a vegan sausage, bean and cheeze melt.

Elsewhere in the world of food, you can try a French fry milkshake at a London food festival this weekend. The sweet and salty concoction is made up of a base of ice cream and potatoes – and even comes with chocolate-coated fries for dipping.
