Liverpool vs Burnley LIVE: Team news, line-ups and more ahead of Premier League fixture tonight

Robertson and Alexander-Arnold – Liverpool’s dynamic full-backs

Liverpool are likely to welcome Joel Matip back to the side after he missed out against Man United, meaning Jordan Henderson will potentially move back to his favoured position in midfield after being used in defence last time out, despite Xherdan Shaqiri’s good performance at the weekend. While Diogo Jota is still out injured, Jurgen Klopp will likely keep Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane up front. Burnley, meanwhile, will be relying on their defence to keep the Reds out and Charlie Taylor could come into the starting line-up. Bailey Peacock-Farrell is out due to illness, while Dwight McNeil will be pushing for a start after missing the last two games. Follow all the build-up, live action and post-match reaction below.

Burnley’s 2-0 victory at Turf Moor in 2016 is their only win against Liverpool in 12 Premier League matches.

The Clarets have won only one of their last 26 away matches at Anfield in all competitions.

Yet, the only points dropped by Liverpool in 19 matches at home last season was in their 1-1 draw with Burnley on 11th July.

Team news – Changes

No Mo Salah! Surprising stuff from Jurgen Klopp who makes three changes to the Liverpool starting XI that drew 0-0 with Manchester United on Sunday. Mo Salah and Roberto Firmino lose their places to Divock Origi and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain. Jordon Henderson also drops out as Joel Matip returns to partner Fabinho in central defence.

A couple of changes for Burnley as well. Charlie Taylor is back fit and ready for action so he comes in for Erik Pieters with Dwight McNeil replacing Johann Gudmundsson in midfield.

Liverpool have seen their lead at the top of the Premier League evaporate in recent weeks and they now sit in fourth place. They drew 0-0 at Anfield with Manchester United in their last game to make it three league games in a row without scoring. Six points adrift of their famous rivals they really need a victory tonight.

Burnley’s last game cam against West Ham were they lost 1-0 at the London Stadium. A good run of form saw them pick up 11 points from six matches in raise them out of the relegation zone but back-to-back defeats has halted their progress. They’re four points clear of the drop and anything they can pick up tonight would be a big boost to their chances of survival.

Liverpool could be given a boost in the form of Joel Matip who has resumed full training after recovering from an adductor injury in December. Diogo Jota on the other hand is not expected to return for several weeks as he deals with an injury to his knee.

Charlier Taylor has been sidelined for Burnley since the 29th December when he picked up a hamstring injury against Sheffield United but may make a return tonight. Jimmy Dunne will alos be assessed for a minor injury and could play a part.
