Liverpool’s 2022-23 Premier League fixtures

Liverpool have wasted no time this summer in securing three new signings to add to their squad after missing out on a famous quadruple in 2021/22, with Jurgen Klopp keen to see his side get back on top of the English football tree in the upcoming campaign.

However, three new signings means that some players must depart in the other direction, and on Wednesday the Reds confirmed the departure of Sadio Mane to Bayern Munich after six years at the club, while Takumi Minamino is not far behind him after a date was set for his Monaco medical.

Mane completes Bayern transfer

After weeks of speculation and negotiations, Liverpool have confirmed that Sadio Mane has officially left the club to join Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich this summer after six years of service at Anfield.

The German giants had their first two bids to buy Mane rejected by the Reds, but both clubs eventually came to terms on an initial £27.4 million deal, although various add-ons will see the total fee rise to around £40m, with the Senegalese forward signing a three-year-contract.

After arriving from Southampton in the summer of 2016, Mane scored 120 goals in 269 appearances for Liverpool across six seasons at the club, in which he won the Premier League, FA Cup, Carabao Cup, UEFA Champions League, UEFA Super Cup and the FIFA Club World Cup in his time at Anfield.

Minamino medical set

Also on the way out of Anfield this summer will be another forward in Takumi Minamino, who has found it difficult to establish himself within Liverpool’s starting lineup since his £7.25 million move from Red Bull Salzburg in January 2020 and is set to join Ligue 1 side Monaco.

The Liverpool Echo have revealed that a deal has been struck between the two clubs that will see Liverpool receive up to €18million (£15.5m) for the Japan international. It’s understood that Liverpool will receive £12.9m (€15m) up front, with up to a further £2.6m (€3m) in add-ons. Minamino is also set to have a medical with Monaco.

In two-and-a-half seasons on Merseyside, Minamino scored 14 goals in 55 appearances for the Reds, while he also endured a brief loan spell at Southampton in the second half of the 2020-21 campaign, where he scored twice in 10 games on the south coast.

Southampton make Williams ‘approach’

Neco Williams is also destined to be on his way out of Liverpool this summer following the arrival of young Scottish defender Calvin Ramsay on Sunday, which has seen him fall down to third choice right back ahead of next season, and Southampton are the latest club to express their interest in the Welshman.

It has previously been reported that Fulham are preparing a bid for Wiliams in the near future after he starred for them in a loan spell during the second half of last season in which the Cottagers won the Championship and earned promotion back to the Premier League.

But according to Sky Sports, the Saints have made a ‘serious approach’ for the 21-year-old, who Liverpool will only allow to leave on a permanent transfer this summer, for a fee that could rise up to £20 million.
