Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool are just one point behind Manchester City after Divock Origi’s late winner against Wolves in the Premier League on Saturday
Liverpool are up to second in the Premier League after a last minute winner against Wolves secured three vital points at Molineux on Saturday.
Divock Origi was the hero after the striker came off the bench and netted the game’s only goal in the final moments.
Jurgen Klopp’s side have now won five in a row and will be heading into the Christmas period full of confidence as they bid to win back the Premier League title.
But with the January transfer window not too far away, Klopp will be thinking about ways he can strengthen his side going into the second half of the season.
Here, Mirror Football takes a look at the latest gossip from Anfield with less than four weeks to go until the window opens.
Liverpool lose out to Leeds
Liverpool have reportedly been beaten by Leeds in their attempts to sign Espanyol striker Mateo Joseph Fernandez.
According to the Daily Mail, the 18-year-old striker will officially join Marcelo Bielsa’s side on January 1.
Fernandez had a release clause of £1.3million but was due to be out of contract in the summer, which led to Leeds striking a deal ahead of their Premier League rivals.
Phillips linked with January exit
Liverpool defender Nathaniel Phillips could be on the move in January, according to reports.
The Telegraph via Chronicle Live have recently said that the 24-year-old’s credentials match up with what Newcastle may be looking for after the Magpies have leaked 30 goals in just 17 games this season.
Phillips has struggled to make an impact at Anfield and has made just two appearances in all competitions this season.
The centre-back has previously spent time on loan in Germany with VfB Stuttgart and another loan move may be on the horizon.
Chukwuemeka urged to stay
Gabby Agbonlahor has told Carney Chukwuemeka to sign a new contract at Aston Villa, amid reports linking him with a move to Anfield.
Agbonlahor told Football Insider that Chukwuemeka will get a chance to prove himself under new boss Steven Gerrard.
“My message to him would be, Aston Villa is the best place for you to be.
“You might have clubs like Man City and Man United looking at you but you’ve got more chance of breaking through at Aston Villa and get minutes.
“If I was him I’d keep with it, keep performing for the Under-23s, keep performing in training with Steven Gerrard.
“He will get his chance and you’ve got to be patient. Look at Jacob Ramsey, he got his chance.
“When you get your chance take it. My advice would be to reject offers from Liverpool and everyone else, stay and sign a new contract with the club.
“He’s still young. All you need is that one game, make it count and you’ll stay in the team.”
