Jurgen Klopp on missing Sadio Mane and Mo Salah

Liverpool put their disappointing display against Arsenal in midweek behind them as they beat Brentford 3-0 at Anfield to get back to winning ways in the Premier League.

It was their first league game without Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane, who have both found the back of the net for their respective nations on international duty in Africa.

Liverpool have been linked with signings in January following their temporary shortage in attack, and their 0-0 frustration against 10-man Arsenal only heightened concerns.

However, Jurgen Klopp proved that there is depth to his squad as they comfortably beat Brentford, but it doesn’t mean that potential signings are ruled out this January.

Here, Mirror Football brings you all of the transfer latest at Liverpool.

Liverpool ‘in contact’ with Araujo

Ronald Araujo could leave Barcelona amid contract concerns

Liverpool are reportedly ‘rivalling’ Real Madrid along with Manchester United for Barcelona star Ronald Araujo, who has entered the final 18 months of his contract.

Contract talks have stalled with Barcelona who are seeking a quick extension, as he and his agent are unhappy with the salary being proposed compared to other teammates of a similar age at the club.

According to Catalan paper SPORT, Liverpool are monitoring Araujo’s situation and have even ‘picked up the phone’ to find out how the defender feels about a potential move to Anfield next summer.

Barcelona are still living on the edge with La Liga due to salary cap rules, meaning that they may have to sell the star if they cannot reach an agreement to extend Araujo’s current deal.

Barcelona have also reportedly told Ousmane Dembele that he will not play another game for the club, as they look to offload the Frenchman as soon as possible.

Dembele has been linked with a move to Liverpool for some time according to El Nacional, and Barcelona have now made the decision to sell the 24-year-old, who’s contract expires next summer.

Gerard Romero reported that Barcelona are preparing to get rid of Dembele by lowering their asking price, and have made their intentions clear by admitting that he will not wear the famous colours of the Catalan side again.

Dembele had stalled over signing a new deal as Barcelona wanted to lower his astronomical wages, and his hesitance has now left them with no choice but to try and raise funds in January by sanctioning a sale.

Liverpool have been previously linked with Dembele, and Klopp could make a move for the former Borussia Dortmund star as he looks to add attacking options in January.

One star that Liverpool may miss out on though is Raphinha, who looks set to sign a new deal at Leeds United despite the wide interest across Europe.

That’s according to Leeds Live, who confirm that contract talks between Leeds and Raphinha’s agent Deco are ongoing and there is growing confidence that a deal can be struck.

Leeds signed Raphinha for just £17m in 2020 as the winger arrived from Rennes, and he has since attracted the interest of many top sides across Europe, including Liverpool.

But despite the interest, it looks like for now Raphinha is happy at Elland Road, leaving sides to look elsewhere in what is a major boost for Leeds and Marcelo Bielsa.
