Jurgen Klopp gives squad update ahead of AC Milan clash

Liverpool signing big names hasn’t been part of the club’s model in recent years.

Ever since they added the likes of Alisson and Fabinho in the summer of 2018 the Reds have taken a cautious approach to transfers.

Ibrahima Konate was their only notable arrival in the summer but Jurgen Klopp’s side continues to age.

The departure of transfer guru Michael Edwards means that his successor may employ a new strategy, which could see more household names arrive at Anfield.

Liverpool’s starting XI is as good as anything in the Premier League, but when injuries began to stack up they have faced criticism for a lack of squad depth.

As a result they may look to dip into the market – either in January or the summer.

We take a look at the latest transfer rumours coming out of Liverpool.

Reds track Dybala

Liverpool are tracking Paulo Dybala’s situation at Juventus with his contract yet to be signed.

There have been rumblings about the Argentine’s future in Turin for some time as he and the club continue to come to the negotiation table.

Calciomercato reports that Dybala is poised to sign a new contract with the Old Lady, but the Reds remain in the wings as they wait to see how the situation will play out.

Juventus, who have struggled massively this term, face the threat of losing Dybala on a free.

The playmaker will become a free agent this summer and can begin exploring his options from January.

Ruiz a target

Liverpool are keeping an eye on Napoli’s Fabian Ruiz, according to Spanish news outlet Fichajes .

The 25-year-old moved to the Serie A side from Real Betis back in 2018 for €30m, but is now being considered by the Reds.

Klopp is not short of midfield options but the report claims that Ruiz is seen as the type of player who can become a star at Anfield.

Liverpool are not the only side to be tracking Ruiz with Barcelona and Real Madrid keen on bringing the midfielder back to his homeland.

Kroos talks ‘held’

Klopp has held conversations with Real Madrid’s Toni Kroos about heading to Merseyside, reports Spanish news outlet El Nacional.

The German moved to the Spanish capital back in 2014 and has won three Champions League titles whilst at the Bernabeu.

Kroos’ current deal is heading towards its expiry however which could allow Liverpool to sign the midfielder on the cheap.

His contract ends in 2023 and his future beyond that date is uncertain.

Klopp already has the likes of Jordan Henderson, Thiago and Fabinho to pick from but may look to bolster his ranks.
