Kroos is reportedly a target for Klopp

Klopp’s ‘promise’ to Kroos

Toni Kroos has once again been linked with Liverpool, with reports indicating that Klopp is indeed keen on signing the Real Madrid star.

El Nacional in Spain claim that the Reds boss wants to bolster his midfield options and views the the 31-year-old as someone who could do exactly that.

The report adds that Klopp has ‘promised’ Kroos that he will make an offer for him next summer, with the Germany international’s contracting expiring in 2023.

Having joined Los Blancos from Bayern Munich in 2014, it is believed that €50m (£42.75m) would be enough to convince Florentino Perez to sell the midfielder.

Reds in ‘pole position’ for Bundesliga ace

Speaking of midfielders who made their name in the Bundesliga, Liverpool could turn to a younger option, who they are in ‘pole position’ to sign.

Borussia Monchengladbach dynamo Denis Zakaria will be a free agent in June and has also been linked with Arsenal and Manchester City.

The 25-year-old is highly-rated in Germany but Italian newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via HITC, state that the Reds are the front-runners in the race for his signature.

Zaharia, who represents Switzerland at international level, would reportedly prefer a move to the Premier League, despite European giants Barcelona and Juventus‘ rumoured interest.

Gomez tipped to renew deal

Joe Gomez has been backed to agree fresh terms at Anfield by one pundit.

Former Premier League striker Noel Whelan reckons that the 24-year-old, currently sidelined with yet another injury, will soon sit down with Klopp to discuss his future.

Gomez has a deal running until June 2024 but thanks to the England international’s lack of playing time, Whelan expects the conversation about his next step to come sooner rather than later.

“I think that will come with a chat with Jurgen Klopp and himself,” the ex-Coventry City, Leeds United and Middlesbrough man told Football Insider.

“When it comes to a 24-year-old, there’s still plenty of life in the player yet. He’s still very, very young, not even at the age of 26 where you play your best years of football. Liverpool will be reluctant.

“They’re building a squad and building a team that is going to be competing for the next four years. That is with the likes of Man United, Man City, Chelsea are up there as well.

“You need that strength in depth.”
