Liverpool are keeping up with Manchester City and Chelsea at the top of the Premier League despite not spending as much as their rivals this summer, but January may be different
Although their attack has been formidable, they are set to be without both Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane in January through international duty, meaning that it could be a huge transfer window for Liverpool and Jurgen Klopp.
The club only signed one player over the summer as Ibrahima Konate arrived for £36million from RB Leipzig, perhaps in anticipation for this upcoming widow, and other stars are rumoured with a move to Anfield.
Despite signing a whole host of stars to long term deals over the summer, Liverpool also face an anxious wait as Salah, Mane and Roberto Firmino are entering the last 18 months of their respective deals.
Here Mirror Football brings you the latest transfer talk coming out of Liverpool with January just around the corner…
Traore’s asking price cut
Liverpool have been put on high alert as Wolves have reportedly slashed their asking price by £32m for Adama Traore, as the club are strapped for cash.
The Reds were among those interested in the summer but Wolves slapped a £50m price tag on the Spaniard, but have now backtracked and could accept a deal closer to £20m.
According to Football Insider, Wolves have slashed Traore’s asking price to around £20million but could be willing to sell for as little as £18million as they look to raise funds for new signings, and the winger has only started seven of their last 14 games.
Liverpool are in the hunt for another forward as cover for Mane and Salah, and Traore’s deadly pace on the counter attack could be extremely useful for Klopp.
Kylian Mbappe ‘set to leave’
All eyes are on Kylian Mbappe for the upcoming window as Paris Sant Germain are still desperate to re-sign the Frenchman, and Real Madrid are still hovering over the situation.
However, Mbappe may have made up his mind as Spanish newspaper Diario AS claim that the forward and PSG have reached a stalemate in contract talks, meaning that he will leave the club for free at the end of the season.
PSG rejected a world-record bid for Mbappe over the summer which suggested that they were confident on a new deal, but according to the report that is now off the table.
Mbappe is reportedly set on Madrid, but with Liverpool’s attacking line needing a long-term boost, the Frenchman could be the man to lead the new era.

Swiss international Denis Zakaria has attracted a lot of interest from his impressive performances in the Bundesliga, and the Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder would reportedly favour a move to Liverpool over any other club interested.
The report also claims that Zakaria has already opted not to sign an extension with the Bundesliga side as he wants to challenge for trophies and play in the Champions League every season.
The 25-year-old is out of contract this summer, meaning that Liverpool could sign him for free at the end of the season.
