Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has expressed interest in signing Bordeaux and Guinea forward Francois Kamano in the final week of the summer transfer window, reports say.

The Reds enjoyed a brilliant 2018-19 campaign, winning the Champions League while finishing second in the Premier League on 96 points.

Klopp has repeatedly insisted that this will be a quiet transfer window for Liverpool and the club have only signed teenage defender Sepp van den Berg so far this summer.

That could change before the window closes next week, however, with The Sun saying Liverpool are eyeing a last-minute move for Guinean striker Kamano.

Kamano, 23, has scored 29 goals in 127 appearances for Bordeaux and shares a dressing room with Liverpool’s Naby Keita while on international duty.

Liverpool have expressed interest in bringing the forward to Anfield as Klopp considers providing cover for his attack ahead of the new season.

Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane have been in red-hot form for the Reds but Klopp is keen to give the trio some support.

Former England international Daniel Sturridge has also been released, meaning Klopp could look to bolster his squad with attacking reinforcements before the window closes.

Speaking to the ECHO last week, Klopp addressed the club’s transfer plans for the remainder of the window and said: ‘We are still looking, but it will not be the biggest transfer window for us.

‘It just will be a transfer window. We will see what we do, and if we haven’t done anything by the end it will be for different reasons.

‘It’s about using this team. In the transfer window, you have to build a team that you think you want to go into the season with. But I have that team already.

‘If we can bring somebody else in that makes it even better, we will see. But if not, this team is already there. And again we will have to find solutions at different moments.’
