Liverpool, Manchester United, Chelsea and Manchester City now know which teams they can potentially be grouped with in Thursday’s Champions League draw.
The Premier League big guns will kick off their campaigns in Europe’s top club competition this month, with group stage matches getting underway on October 20 and 21.
And now the final seedings have been confirmed ahead of the group stage draw in Geneva, after the final qualifying rounds were completed.
As reigning Premier League champions, Liverpool are automatically seeded in pot one, along with Champions League winners Bayern Munich and Europa League kings Sevilla.
That of course means Jurgen Klopp’s side will avoid those two teams, as well as the champions of Europe’s other major leagues, with Juventus, Real Madrid, PSG, Porto and Zenit St Petersburg completing pot one.
As teams cannot be drawn against rivals from the same country, Liverpool will also avoid United, City and Chelsea.
That means there are five potential pot-two opponents for Klopp’s men, who will be drawn against either Barcelona, Atletico Madrid, Shakhtar Donetsk, Borussia Dortmund or Ajax.
And United, City and Chelsea will each face one of the big guns from pot one – meaning they could land a nightmare draw against Bayern or last season’s beaten finalists PSG.
Each of the Premier League sides will also face a team from pot three and one from pot four.
Europa League finalists Inter Milan and Champions League last-four side RB Leipzig stand out as ones to avoid from pot three.
And there are a few potential banana-skins awaiting in pot four, including the long trip to face Lokomotiv Moscow, and the likes of Marseille and Rennes who were second and third respectively when the Ligue 1 campaign was curtailed due to coronavirus last season.
After the openers on October 20 and 21, remaining group-stage rounds are set to be played on October 27/28, November 3/4, November 24/25, December 1/2 and December 8/9.
The group stage draw will take place in Geneva, Switzerland from 4pm on Thursday. Below are the final seedings in full:
