Liverpool fans 'attacked with bottles and chairs' in ugly scenes ahead of AC Milan clash

Liverpool supporters were allegedly attacked ahead of their Champions League clash with AC Milan on Tuesday evening. The Reds are in Milan for their final Group B clash.

Jurgen Klopp’s side are already through to the knockout rounds of the competition but can record a 100 per cent record with a victory over the Serie A side.

Thousands of supporters have travelled to Italy to see if the Anfield outfit can continue their good form.

However, they have apparently been caught up in ugly scenes ahead of the crunch tie.

In video footage released by the Liverpool Echo, Reds supporters can be seen getting attacked by a group of men dressed in black outside a bar in the city.

Glasses can be heard being smashed and people are furiously shouting. What is said is initially unclear in the footage.

However, a woman is then heard shouting: “Go into the bar, go into the bar!”

The video handed to the Echo is about 10 seconds long but a fan has given his side of the story to the newspaper.

The supporters were apparently enjoying a drink ahead of the game when they were “targeted” by a gang.

The Reds are second in the Premier League and are through to the quarter-finals of the League Cup.

They have been beaten just once in the league, by West Ham in November.

Divock Origi’s last-minute winner against Wolves on Saturday lifted them up to second place, with Chelsea suffering a rare defeat – also by the Hammers.

Liverpool are battling with the Blues and Manchester City in a thrilling three-way Premier League title race.
