Liam Gallagher ‘doesn’t remember’ once sitting down and having a drink with rival band Blur’s frontman Damon Albarn.

The Oasis rocker, 48, and his brother Noel Gallagher, 53, were famously locked in a feud with Blur back in their heyday, after their iconic music chart battle in 1995.

Oasis were set to release their single Roll With It, with Blur deciding last minute to drop their track Country House on the same day. The rest, as they say, is history and their rivalry was pretty much cemented.

So much so, that Liam couldn’t resist having a pop at his former rivals when being reminded of a ‘civil drink’ he once had with Albarn.

Appearing on The Jonathan Ross Show, Liam was reminded of the (let’s face it) unlikely sounding moment by Matt Lucas, who claimed he, Liam and Albarn all had a drink together at The Groucho Club.

Lucas had been touring with Blur at the time and recalled Albarn telling Liam that, actually, he was ‘alright’, it was his brother Noel that he ‘didn’t like’.

Convinced it didn’t happen, Liam said: ‘I was in the thick of it. I don’t remember any of it, I was out f**king partying and getting off my face.’

When reminded of Lucas touring with Blur, Liam poked fun at his former rivals, as he joked: ‘That’s why he ended up the way he ended up man, on a baking program.’

And when Lucas teased that Blur’s album Great Escape was a ‘wonderful album’, Liam hit back: ‘Didn’t f**king sell much though, did it? It wasn’t as good as Morning Glory or anything we did.’

‘I’d be inclined to agree with you, only through fear of being knocked out,’ Lucas joked.

Reminiscing over their past drink, the Great British Bake Off host then told Liam: ‘You probably won’t remember because you were hardcore partying. You were in [the bar] and Damon was in there and I thought, “oh my god, am I going to have to referee a fight?”

‘The three of us sat down and had a nice drink. It was very civil and I think Damon said something like, “you’re alright, it’s your brother I don’t like.”‘

Liam looked a little confused. He replied: ‘I don’t remember that, man. Are you sure that wasn’t Noel, then? I don’t think that happened. Did we break bread together?’

Disputing the whole concept of a ‘civil’ drink, he revealed: ‘The last time I saw those Blur boys in thingy, there was a pool table at the top and I remember launching snooker balls at their heads – not sitting down and having drinks.’

However, the Wonderwall hit-maker did go on to say that despite Oasis’ ‘feud’ with Blur, he ‘never really had any problem with anyone’.

That only prompted funny man Lucas to jokingly ask Liam what he’s got his brother Noel for Christmas, with Liam hitting back: ‘He ain’t getting nothing, man. Maybe me and him are still at loggerheads and that.’

Liam and Noel famously fell out before Oasis’ final ever gig in Paris in 2009 – cancelling it minutes before it was due to start and Noel then releasing a statement revealing he’d quit the band.

By that point, Oasis had sold 75million records worldwide making them one of the best-selling bands of all time.
