Leicester have already gotten the better of Chelsea twice this calendar year, most notably in the FA Cup final where the Foxes capped their good season with a first ever FA Cup triumph thanks to a brilliant effort from Youri Tielemans.

But in the most recent Premier League affair between the clubs, the Blues managed to scrape a 2-1 victory against Brendan Rodgers’ men back at the Bridge.

It was Chelsea’s biggest crowd in over 15 months post the height of the Pandemic and the players rewarded the fans with a dominant performance worthy of more goals.

However, where it lacked in goals was made up for in controversy and German international Timo Werner was amongst the thick of it.

With only 20 minutes gone on the clock, Werner managed to smartly get his body across Youri Tielemans before he was able to clear the ball from inside the Foxes’ box, leading to the Frenchman kicking his opposition causing shouts for a penalty.

But instead, Mike Dean who was referee on the day, awarded a free-kick in favour of Leicester sending the home fans into a frenzy.

Then to make matters worse, Werner had the ball in the back of Kasper Schmeichel’s net following a well-executed finish moments later only to have his celebrations cut short due to the 25-year-old straying offside.

And in addition to that, Werner had another goal ruled out not too long after when a handball was spotted in the build up to the striker bundling the ball over the line.

It was looking like one of those nights for Chelsea and Werner where anything they attempted was unsuccessfully pulled off.

Until 90 seconds after the interval when Antonio Rudiger nodded home a Ben Chilwell corner with the aid of Jamie Vardy’s poor clearance on the near post.

The Blues continued their immense pressure as they hunted for revenge after the FA Cup final defeat and a little over 20 minutes later, their efforts were rewarded when Wesley Fofana brought down Timo Werner just inside the box for a penalty.

EURO 2020 champion Jorginho did his trademark hop skip and jump before rolling the ball into Schmeichel’s net.

The visitors did manage to pull one back through Kelechi Iheanacho on the 76th minute but Chelsea were able to hold out and grab the three points.
