Leeds United’s stance on Raphinha transfer amid Liverpool and Manchester United interest

Leeds United will reportedly not be entertaining offers for Raphinha and hope to bring in more quality alongside the sought-after winger in the summer transfer window.

Raphinha completed a £17million move from Rennes to Elland Road last October and the 24-year-old has registered five goals and five assists in an eye-catching debut season in the Premier League.

The Brazilian’s price tag looks more of a bargain with each passing week and his outstanding performances have reportedly caught the attention of both Liverpool and Manchester United.

But according to The Daily Mirror, Leeds have no plans to cash in on their prized possession – as they may have done in the past – and see him as a player to build around going forward as they look to return to cement their place as top-flight team to be reckoned with once again.

The report claims Raphinha is ‘happy’ at the club and has close relationships with Leeds team-mates Helder Costa and Patrick Bamford, who speak with him in Portuguese and French respectively.

Marcelo Bielsa can rest easy in the knowledge that there is no release clause in Raphinha’s contract which a club like Liverpool or United may have used to prise him away from West Yorkshire.

‘I wish all the players were like this because spectators fall in love with the game when they see these types of players,’ Leeds boss Bielsa said when assessing Raphinha’s impact last month.

‘I sincerely think that I can add very little to his game.

‘The best thing you can do with players who are so spontaneous is to let them be themselves.

‘He’s a player who unbalances the opposition by himself, he’s very ambitious, very competitive.’

Former England star Trevor Sinclair has been blown away by Raphinha’s barnstorming debut campaign in England and feels he ‘wouldn’t look out of place’ at Manchester City, Manchester United or Liverpool.

‘I’ve been so impressed by Raphinha,’ Sinclair told talkSPORT.

‘He’s been outstanding in that final third being able to create goals and score goals.

‘If you put Raphinha in one of the top sides, he wouldn’t look out of place.

‘I’m not saying Leeds aren’t a top side, they’re a newly promoted Premier League side.

‘But I think if you put him in a Manchester City or Manchester United or Liverpool side, he wouldn’t look out of place.

‘He’s got that much quality on the ball.’
