Leeds United boss Marcelo Bielsa is lining up a move for Chelsea outcast Fikayo Tomori as defensive cover following Robin Koch’s injury.

Koch, 24, is set for at least two more months on the sidelines after sustaining a long-term injury in a 3-1 defeat to Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

Leeds’ attacking philosophy has attracted praise from across the football landscape this term but Bielsa’s side have looked less impressive in defence, conceding 33 times this season at a rate of nearly two goals a game.

With the second worst defensive record in the Premier League, Bielsa is keen to bolster his defence and out-of-favour Tomori is available.

The defender broke into Chelsea’s first team last season after returning to Stamford Bridge alongside boss Frank Lampard from a loan spell at Derby County.

However, he’s been ostracised this term and has played just 45 minutes in the league this season as a substitute in an early defeat to Liverpool.

Tomori is now keen to leave to play first team football and the BBC say Elland Road is the defender’s ‘most likely’ destination.

The 22-year-old played 23 times for the Blues last season but his chances have been limited since the arrival of Thiago Silva to Stamford Bridge, while Kurt Zouma has regained his best form.

Tomori joined the Blues in 2005 and it’s likely that Lampard will only sanction a loan move for the defender in January, before reassessing his situation in the summer.
