Leeds make former Liverpool starlet Sean McGurk their fourth summer signing

Leeds are finally signing former Liverpool starlet Sean McGurk from Wigan.

Leeds failed with bids in the previous two transfer windows for McGurk and are landing him on a Bosman after his Wigan deal expired at the end of last month.

They have agreed terms with the attacking midfielder and are now discussing compensation with the Latics.

McGurk, 18, began his career at his hometown club Liverpool before he moved to Wigan in 2016.

He has yet to make his senior debut and Leeds first tried to sign him last year when they bought Joe Gelhardt from Wigan.

Leeds feel McGurk has great potential and he will be reunited with Gelhardt in their Under-23s squad.

McGurk becomes Leeds’ fourth summer signing following the arrivals of Junior Firpo, Jack Harrison and Amari Miller.

Mateusz Bogusz passed McGurk on the way out of Leeds and the teenage midfielder has joined Spanish side UD Ibiza in a season-long loan deal.

Bogusz, 19, spent the last campaign on loan at UD Logrones in Spain and Leeds feel the Poland Under-21 international will benefit from playing senior football.

Meanwhile Pablo Hernandez is keeping his options open after receiving an offer from his hometown club Castellon in Spain.

Hernandez, 36, was released by Leeds at the end of last season and the midfielder has always said he would like to finish his career with Castellon, where he is a shareholder.

However Castellon were relegated to Spain’s third tier last season and he believes he could play at least another season at a higher level.

Ezgjan Alioski is also mulling over his next move and he has yet to receive an acceptable offer, despite becoming a free agent at the end of last month.

Alioski, 29, hoped to cash in with a Bosman move and has been in talks with Trabzonspor, Galatasaray and Fenerbahce.

But no club has yet matched his contract demands and an offer of new terms at Leeds remains on the table.
