LeAnn Rimes poses completely nude as she shares 'unabashedly' about psoriasis

LeAnn Rimes has shared more about her battle with psoriasis in a string of nude snaps.

The country singer, 38, took to Instagram to reveal her ongoing struggle with the skin condition that, according to the NHS, “causes red, flaky, crusty patches of skin covered with silvery scales.”

LeAnn penned a lengthy caption to her 482,000 followers, explaining her decision to share her condition.

She’s penned an essay for Glamour Magazine, telling fans: “So much of my journey, both personally and within my creations, my new chant record and podcast coming out soon, has been excavating pieces that I’ve been hiding and bringing them to the light.

“It’s been and still is a journey of allowing them out and welcoming and reintegrating those fragments back into wholeness. Music has been my gift, and why I’m here.

LeAnn said she was done hiding her condition

“But I want to give a voice to these other pieces of me. And I want to give a voice to what so many other people are going through. This is finally my time to be unabashedly honest about what psoriasis is and what it looks like.

“You know when you say something you’ve been holding in for so long, and it’s such a sigh of relief?

“That’s what these photos are to me. I needed this. My whole body – my mind, my spirit – needed this desperately.”

It’s been 16 years since her last flare up, and believes that stress has brought it back

LeAnn deliberately chose to post on Thursday, which marked World Psoriasis Day.

Her essay tells that it’s been 16 years since her condition last flared up.

She’s spoken about having the condition before but, LeAnn writes, “this time is different.”

She was first diagnosed at just two years old

By six years old, around 80% of her body was covered in red spots

“Even though I’ve opened up, I’ve still kept hidden,” she says.

“And when you’re hiding your physical body, there’s so much that rolls over into your emotional and spiritual mental health. You feel like you’re holding yourself back – like you’ve been caged in.”

She was first diagnosed aged two, and by six, around 80% of her body was covered in red spots.

LeAnn goes on to lament that at the time of her diagnosis, everything was a lot less open with regard to skin conditions and that there weren’t “open discussions.”

And amid the “uncertainty” that 2020 has sent our way, LeAnn has found herself stressed – a common trigger for the condition.
