Late Tomas Soucek strike seals West Ham win vs Everton on David Moyes' return

West Ham produced a smash and grab performance to take all three points off Everton on David Moyes’s return to Goodison Park on New Years’ Day.

The hosts were hopeful of gaining ground on table-topping rivals Liverpool with a victory, but Tomas Soucek’s late goal ensured the Hammers stole all the spoils.

The Hammers had been sturdy in defence all evening, limiting Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s involvement, as well as that of James Rodriguez when he came on as a second-half sub.

And their efforts were rewarded as Soucek reacted quickly when Aaron Cresswell’s shot was deflected into his path to sidefoot the ball past Jordan Pickford in the 85th minute.

Here are Andy Dunn’s player ratings.
