Meanwhile experts from Be The Business, a Government-backed network, are warning that nearly a million small firms are at risk of going under this month.

LLOYDS PHARMACY is searching for 1,500 ‘healthcare heroes’ to boost frontline services in its 1,400 pharmacies across the UK.

CEO Toby Anderson said: “We know this is a difficult time, with many people struggling with job losses or redundancies, so we hope that this will provide some hope for those who need it most.”

There are permanent and temporary vacancies for dispensers, pharmacists, delivery drivers, goods operatives and warehouse staff.

HOMELESS Giulia Rossi was sleeping on a friend’s sofa while trying to find work, but landed a supermarket assistant role with Asda, which is recruiting 5,000 new staff.

The 20-year-old from London was helped by specialist site Beam.org, which lets members of the public fund a homeless person into work by paying for training, childcare, course fees and work mentors.

Giulia said: “I never got a chance to go to a normal school and as a result I always struggled to get a good job because I lacked a basic education.

“But I’ve always been really passionate about helping people in any way possible.

“I’ve wanted to work for a long time now, so I can be independent and have a better life.

“I want to live on my own, make my own money and be the best in whatever I do.”

WHEN recruitment consultant David De Souza lost his job to the coronavirus crisis he signed up to deliver emergency medical supplies for Boots.

After posting his story on networking site LinkedIn, David received more than 50,000 likes and thousands of comments offering help for when his driving contract finishes.

His inspirational post has now become a place for jobseekers to trade tips and advice.

David, 34, from London said: “Unfortunately, I have become one of the many to lose their job as a result Covid-19.

“I never thought 2020 would go like this.

“I was gutted to be made redundant, but I am so happy.

“I can support my country in this terrible time of need.”

THE Freight Transport Association has launched a hashtag to spread the word on social media about new vacancies.

Elizabeth de Jong, the body’s policy director, said: “The public are relying on the logistics sector to keep supermarkets and essential retailers stocked with food, medicines, hygiene products and other basic items throughout the pandemic.”

WITH half a million hospitality workers expected to lose their job due to Covid-19, trade body

UKHospitality, caterer.com and charity Hospitality Action have teamed up to launch a jobs hub with thousands of short-term roles in other sectors.

The Hospitality Redeployment Hub on caterer.com features thousands of jobs with major employers including Amazon, Lidl and Hermes.

To help small retailers forced to shut up shop on the high street, eBay is waiving all sign-up fees.

The web giant is also offering a 30-day payment holiday for all 300,000 British businesses registered on the site.

The move – which represents a cash-flow lifeline worth millions for many thousands of small businesses – comes in response to calls for additional support by entrepreneurs across the country.

Rob Hattrell of eBay UK said: “Small businesses are the backbone of Britain but now, more than ever, they need our support. If we don’t help them now, we risk losing a generation of successful SMEs and entrepreneurs.”

AS companies work flat-out to feed the nation, thousands of jobs are being created to get food on to our plates.

Pizza chain DOMINO’S is serving up more than 6,000 new roles in a bid to meet high demand for its deliveries, triggered by self-isolation.

It is looking for both delivery drivers and in-store workers, with jobs available across the country.

Applications are encouraged from those sectors worst hit by the crisis, including hospitality and retail. Apply now at corporate.dominos.co.uk/working-for-us. Fresh food specialist G’S FRESH urgently needs 2,500 starters for a wide range of roles, including harvesters, packers, tractor drivers, bus drivers, team leaders and quality assurance staff.

Jobs are in Cambridgeshire, Warwickshire, Worcestershire and Kent.

HR head Beverly Dixon said: “Come and help to feed our nation. You can earn around £400 a week working in our fields and packhouses, ensuring supermarkets remain filled this summer.”

Delivery and logistics have 4,000 available jobs

Courier firm YODEL needs another 500 self-employed courier and service delivery partners.

Care firms are struggling to keep up with demand and thousands of new roles have become available this week.

The care industry has 7,000 jobs available

Care provider HC-ONE has thousands of permanent new roles at more than 300 care homes nationwide. Full training and induction will be provided.

HC-One’s Lucy Connolly said the firm was “calling all people who are kind, caring and want to make a difference by joining our team of key workers”.
