Caitlyn Jenner has revealed she was told she couldn’t go and watch daughter Kendall’s first ever Victoria’s Secret show.

The reality star, 71, is dad to daughters Kendall, 25, and Kylie, 23, who she shares with ex-wife Kris Jenner from their marriage of over 20 years.

Opening up about family life recently, Caitlyn discussed the relationship she has with her famous daughters and recalled the moment Kendall landed her first ever Victoria’s Secret fashion show, after years of wanting to be an Angel.

Caitlyn said she was chuffed to see her daughter land her big shot at modelling – only for Kendall to tell her she wasn’t allowed to watch her runway debut for the lingerie powerhouse.

Speaking on The Skinny Confidential Him & Her Podcast, Caitlyn explained that Kendall set her sights on becoming a model when she was 15 years old and her dream was to be a Victoria’s Secret angel.

‘She wanted to get into the modelling world I remember Kendall telling me, she was 15/16, and she said: “I’m going to be a Victoria Secret’s model,” I didn’t want to discourage her, so I said, “Great,” but in my head I’m thinking yeah right,’ Caitlyn said.

‘[Kendall] turned 18, she got an agent, she went to New York, she kept going on calls, getting turned down for runway events, then finally Marc Jacobs gave her a job.’

In 2015, Kendall walked in the annual Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show – that was officially cancelled four years later – and was determined not to let her famous family take over her big debut.

Caitlyn revealed: ‘She told me, months before [the show] she goes, “I’m going to do the Victoria’s Secret show,” and I said, “That’s so cool, I’m going to be there,” and she said no.’

Kendall was adamant she didn’t want her dad cheering her on in the front row, with Caitlyn explaining: ‘She really has this thing that this is “my thing” not the family stuff, it’s my deal.

‘If I come, I create a commotion or whatever it is that takes away from her, but I said to her, “I’m going to be there, I’ll be as quiet and discreet as I can be, but I guarantee you I will be in the front row… you told me three or four years ago you wanted to be a Victoria’s Secret [angel] and you’re there going down the runway, I’m going to be there to see it.”‘

Kendall has since gone on to become one of the most in-demand models of the moment and is often seen walking for huge designers, from Chanel and Dior to Balmain and Versace.

In 2018, Kendall was named the world’s highest-paid supermodel by Forbes – raking in more than $22million (£16m) – and Caitlyn commended her daughter’s work ethic.

‘Little did we know that four years later she would be the most successful, highest paid model in the world, but she did it through hard work. She would never stop, she would work really hard. It’s a tough business, but that’s why she got there,’ Caitlyn gushed.

Asked if she sees more of herself in Kendall than the rest of her children, Caitlyn said: ‘Kendall and I have a lot in common, she’s very athletic, we kind of have the same attitude towards life, and I get along very well with the two of them, but Kylie and I seem to be closer most of the time.

‘We try to have dinner once a week, once every two weeks. She always has these great meals prepared – she doesn’t do them, she doesn’t cook. Kendall’s a little harder to figure out, we’re still very close, Kylie’s more of an open book.’

Caitlyn is also dad to sons Brody, Brandon and Burt Jenner and daughter Cassandra from previous marriages, and step-dad to Kris’ other children Kim, Kourtney, Khloe and Rob Kardashian.
