Katie McGlynn vows to give up 'partying lifestyle' in time for Strictly gig in September

Katie McGlynn has vowed that she will give up her ‘partying lifestyle’ and ‘clean up her act’ in time for her Strictly Come Dancing gig in September.

The Hollyoaks star, 27, was pictured looking worse for wear while slumped against a wall on a pavement in July, following a boozy night out at The Ivy in Manchester.

Crying on the phone, the Rochdale-born star was comforted by a companion who lifted her up and sent her home in a taxi.

A friend of the former Corrie actor told The Sun: ‘Katie is a young woman and loves going out with her pals.

‘But those pictures weren’t great for her look and she was warned against doing anything which could hamper her chances on Strictly.

‘She is totally focused on the show. Instead of partying, Katie has become a gym junkie and is working out three times a week.

‘Katie knows how physically taxing Strictly can be.

MailOnline has contacted Katie’s representatives for comment.

It comes after it was reported that BBC producers won’t be pairing Katie with her former flame Giovanni Pernice on the 2021 series.

The former Waterloo Road star and the professional dancer, 30, never made their relationship official but were romantically linked five years ago.

And despite speculation that bosses were keen to match them on the new series, they are now reportedly deciding against it because they don’t want to ‘stoke flames’.

The Sun claims they are trying to avoid starting rumours as Giovanni is now in a relationship with former Love Islander, Maura Higgins, 30.
