Kate Ferdinand admits to feeling jealous as she watched Rio grieve for late wife


Kate Ferdinand confessed it was “confusing” when she saw her love Rio cry over his late wife.

Looking back, the former TOWIE star admitted she found it “difficult” seeing her now-husband break down over his late love Rebecca in documentary Rio Ferdinand: Becoming Mum and Dad.

Swept up in the honeymoon period of her romance with the footballer at the time the show aired in 2017, Kate said she wasn’t prepared to watch her love cry over his ex.

Rio had filmed the heartbreaking documentary in 2016 which depicted his struggle to come to terms with his wife’s death following her battle with cancer.

In a new interview, Kate dished she was overwhelmed with confusion as she watched the man she had fallen in love with crying over another woman.

She told Giovanna Fletcher’s podcast Happy Mum, Happy Baby: “The man you’re in love with is crying and he’s grieving. And I don’t think when it come out I’d met the children or I was with the children properly then so it was like: ‘Wow, this is a lot.'”

The reality star said it come as a shock to her because she didn’t really know much about the documentary before she watched it in full.

She further explained: “I was a bit confused if I’m honest, because I was in the honeymoon period with Rio and I knew he’d filmed this documentary like the year before.

Looking back, the former TOWIE star admitted she found it “difficult” seeing her now-husband break down over his late love Rebecca in documentary Rio Ferdinand: Becoming Mum and Dad

“But I didn’t really know too much about it and I found it really difficult to watch and it was hard.”

Years later, the Instagram star joined her new husband to film their documentary Rio and Kate: Becoming A Step Family.

The documentary showed the Ferdinands overcome the barriers of introducing Kate into the lives of Rio’s three children.

Recently, the television personality said she would love to have a baby with her husband to bring them together as a family unit.

She has been an asset in helping Rio raise his children Lorenz, 13, Tate, 11, and Tia, eight, whom he shared with his late wife Rebecca.

Kate and Rio were married in a lavish three-day wedding last year which saw all their family and friend attend the celebrations.
