Kanye West has sent his support to President Donald Trump after he tested positive for coronavirus.

The rapper said he would be ‘praying’ for Trump and his wife Melania – who also has the virus – and would do the same if it were Joe Biden and his wife, Jill.

He also called for ‘civility’ and for people to ‘come together’.

Kanye tweeted: ‘There’s a crying need for civility across the board. We need to and will come together in the name of Jesus.

‘I’m praying for President Trump’s and Melania’s full recovery, just as I would for Joe and Jill Biden if they were stricken, as well as everyone else with COVID-19.’

The Otis rapper, who has never voted in his life, withdrew his political support for Trump earlier this year after announcing his own bid for the White House.

He initially backed Trump as he felt he was ‘the closest president we’ve had in years to allowing God to still be part of the conversation’, he told Forbes.

The dad-of-four previously distanced himself from Trump two years ago claiming that he was being ‘used to spread messages I don’t believe in’.

Meanwhile his own presidential bid faced a setback after he was kept off a key ballot in Wisconsin after narrowly missing the deadline to hand in the documents needed to register.

Meanwhile the president, who has ‘mild’ symptoms was taken to a military hospital on Friday to ‘undergo tests’ on the advice of doctors.

Joe and Jill Biden have since confirmed that they tested negative for Covid-19.

Biden, who is running against Trump in this year’s presidential election, shared a stage with the president in their first debate in Columbus, Ohio.
