THIS is the terrifying moment a kangaroo was filmed flooring a dad with one punch as the man tried to protect his kids.
Startling footage captured Mitchell Robinson being decked by the mighty marsupial in his own front yard in New South Wales, Australia.
It shows the large male roo squaring up to the man before hopping towards him and unleashing a rapid attack with his feet and paws.
The family later said the feisty animal had been loitering outside their home for some time and scratching around on the ground.
Mr Robinson was seen trying to shield his kids – heard screaming in the background – from the rampaging roo in the community of South West Rocks.
Friend Tina Grace Rowe told 7News: “It was just staring at him and he picked up something to try and shoo it away and as soon as he did that you could just see that it was going to go at him.
“He was massive. He was a big male kangaroo with a big chest.”
Those close to Mr Robinson were quick to point out it was hardly a fair fight – as he was nursing a broken arm at the time.
Amazingly he escaped further injury during his run-in with the kangaroo and even appeared to land a quick punch of his own.
However, experts say the dad was lucky not to have been seriously injured during the Christmas Day clash.
Featherdale Wildlife Park zookeeper Chad Staples said: “They have huge claws on their front hands that they will use to hold on with and then their back legs are all power for kicking, so they are covered with weapons.”
In the wake of the bushfires which ravaged Australia, more kangaroos are heading further into the suburbs in search of greener grass and food.
Earlier this month, we told how one frisky roo leapt onto a terrified jogger after “being attracted” by the Sarah Jessica Parker perfume she was wearing.
Tracy Noonan was running through the streets of Melbourne, Australia, when the amarous animal suddenly pounced on her.
The young mum said she felt a “massive thump” in the middle of her back and she was quickly flattened.
And in 2018, we told how a woman was left with a punctured lung after suffering a savage attack by a 6ft kangaroo.
Linda Smith, 64, from Queensland in Australia, also suffered broken ribs and other internal injuries during the terrifying ordeal.
