Frank Lampard is set to start Chelsea new boy Kai Havertz in his side’s clash against Brighton.

The German completed a £71million move to Stamford Bridge earlier this month but he’s had little time to train with his new team-mates given the unprecedented circumstances of the new campaign.

Lampard’s made six signings already this summer and he’s keen on making at least one further addition, with Edouard Mendy set to arrive from Rennes in a £18million deal.

With so many new faces at the club, Lampard must slowly transition his new signings into the side as a raft of changes may upset the balance of his starting XI.

However, according to the Athletic, Havertz is set to be one of the new signings that will start against the Seagulls and Chelsea fans will be excited to see the German in action from the start on the south coast.

Ben Chilwell and Hakim Ziyech are not yet fit to start but Timo Werner is set to make his full debut.

Thiago Silva will be given extra time to get his fitness up to speed and the Brazilian may have to wait another week to make his first outing for the club.

Chelsea face champions Liverpool in their next fixture, which will be their first at Stamford Bridge of the new season.

The club hope to have Mendy in place for the visit of the Reds and it’s unclear if Lampard will stick by Kepa against Brighton.
